How to Open .webp Images in Photoshop

The WebP format is good for its small size, however, when working on Photoshop, you will be shown this message when you try to open files with .webp extensions

With a simple workaround you can enable your Photoshop to open, edit and even save images in .webp format.

  1. Download the WebPShop plugin for your particular operating system.

  2. Unzip the package.

  3. Copy the extracted file into Photoshop’s plugin folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop\Plug-ins

  4. Quit or close and then re-open your Photoshop app.

Simple is open in paint & save as Jpeg or Png,

But for bulk that plugin is better  :+1:

Would that result in loss of quality?

I haven’t seen quality loss, i do it many times,
don’t know about others

Interesting. Will give it a try.

Having said that, the main reason for the extension is to avoid copy paste, save as in Paint, and then import it Photoshop. Somewhat a time saver I guess.
